About Me

 

 

Cindy Gonzalez is a fashion design student at the University of North Texas (UNT) planning to graduate in summer 2023. She is currently working as a western application designer at D Designs. She also has an associate degree in Studio Arts from Houston Community College, where she has been awarded several recognitions such as “2017 Most Outstading Student in The Performing Arts” and first place in the 2017 student juried exhibition. She has also been recognized as a highlighted student in the College of Visual Arts at UNT and one of her designs was accepted in the 2022 exhibition “Innovate to Create,” hosted by The International Textile and Apparel Association.

 

Cindy believes that fashion can be used as a force for good. With her focus on sustainability and eco-friendly design, her mission is to keep researching ways to make fashion more sustainable

 

Born and raised in El Salvador, her passion for fashion started when she was a little girl making dresses for her Barbies, to later making and modifying her own clothes. She decided to pursuit a fashion degree after watching the TV show, “Project Runway.”She considers herself a hardworking women that truly values the power of education. She paid her college education working part-time jobs and with scholarships. Something that has taugh her that nothing is imposible and you can accomplish anything with hard work and determination.”My goal is to make the person who wears my creations to feel beautiful and empowered. Fashion should be fun and affordable for everyone. The way I picture the future of fashion is to be more fun, affordable and sustainable.”
